Audio & Playback
Why can't I hear the song playing?
- In many cases, your Apple Music subscription has expired. Confirm your Apple Music subscription is active. In Dugout Dude, go to Settings > Apple Music, check the status and hit Refresh Status to confirm.
- Next, open the Apple Music app on your iPhone/iPad and make sure you can play full songs (not just 30s previews) and confirm your subscription is active.
- Make sure the selected song is available in Apple Music. You may accidentally pick a song from your library that is not Apple Music catalog eligible. Dugout Dude cannot play a song unless it is currently available in the Apple Music catalog.
- Check that your phone volume is turned up and not muted.
- If you’re using a speaker, confirm your device is still connected to Bluetooth or your selected audio output.
Beginning of ’’Now batting....’’ is being cut off?
This is a known issue for all apps with: JBL Partybox models, Ion Pathfinder, Sonos Move, Ecoxgear speakers. The Bluetooth for these speakers was designed for continuous play, not: play batter, wait 4 mins, play next batter, wait...Between each batter the Bluetooth will fall asleep since its not in use to save battery. Then when you press Play Walkup, the speaker is still waking up during the ’Now batting....’ and is cut off.
FIX #1: Go to Settings > Extra Bluetooth Wakeup > Try Standard or Extended to see which works best. This will add a minor delay between button press and hearing sound.
FIX #2: Try starting the Voice +1.0 after the Music. I recommend moving the Start Time of the song back -1.0s and update the Duration +1.0 to compensate.
FIX #3: If this does not resolve the issue, you will need to try an AUX cable ($5-8) and plug directly into your speaker.
Can I add my custom song that's not in Apple Music?
At this time, Dugout Dude only uses the Apple Music catalog for walk-up songs. That means a song must be available in Apple Music to be played in the app.
Apple Music may recognize external or custom songs in your library, but Dugout Dude will not be able to play them unless they are searchable in the Apple Music catalog.
My announcer voice seems off, how do I fix it?
If the voice clip sounds wrong, try regenerating the announcer audio from the player settings.
Go to Player > Voice Intro, add an extra word or two to the existing script, then click Preview.
After that, remove the extra words and click Preview or Complete again.
Definitely test your lineup before game time so your audio is ready before you reach the field.
App & Teams
Is Dugout Dude available on Android?
No, Dugout Dude is only available on iPhone or iPad. Android does not support Apple Music, and that is the exclusive source for Dugout Dude's walkup songs.
Also, Spotify will not allow other apps to integrate with them. Spotify will not let an app integrate with Spotify until they have 250,000 active users.
Can I use Dugout Dude without internet?
Yes, you can use Offline Mode. This feature is found on the Team Homepage.
You will need to follow the setup steps exactly as described in the Offline Mode setup guide.
We also recommend switching your iPhone or iPad to Airplane Mode with Wi-Fi turned off to test everything before leaving the house.
For the best experience, we still recommend using a hotspot from another phone if one is available at the field.
For the smoothest game-day experience, set up your roster, songs, and audio before you arrive and test everything in advance.
Can multiple teams be managed in one account?
Yes. Dugout Dude supports managing multiple teams from a single account. Each team can have its own roster, walk-up songs, and announcer settings.
You can also run the Home and Visitor teams at the same time within Game Mode. Add both teams and switch between them at the bottom of the screen.
I need to let my spouse run Dugout Dude this weekend. What are my options?
The easiest option is to sign in to your Dugout Dude account on your spouse’s phone using the same email address. Your teams and data will sync after login.
Make sure Apple Music is active on your spouse’s device.
Your spouse must also have Apple Music on their iPhone or iPad, and it must be active for songs to play as expected.
I need another parent to run Dugout Dude this weekend. What are my options?
The other parent can purchase Dugout Dude Pro, and you can then send or share the team to them using the Send/Share feature. That parent will also need an active Apple Music subscription. This is the easiest and quickest option.
Shared login option: you can share your Dugout Dude account login with the other parent. Once they log in, the team, voices, and songs will sync to their phone so they can run your team for the weekend. That parent would still need an active Apple Music subscription.
